What is Fitrana?
Sadaqat al-Fitr (Fitrana) is a mandatory charitable donation given by Muslims before Eid al-Fitr. It serves two main purposes:
- Purifies the fasting person from any indecent acts or speech
- Provides food for the needy to celebrate Eid al-Fitr
Who Must Pay Fitrana?
- Every Muslim who possesses food in excess of their needs
- Must be paid for each family member
- Including children and dependents
When to Pay Fitrana?
- Before Eid al-Fitr prayer
- Can be paid during the last few days of Ramadan
- Should not be delayed beyond Eid day

The amount of Fitrana is equivalent to:
- 1 Sa' (approximately 2.5 kg) of food
